Our chef & founder Maxwell Mckenzie has trained in multi Michelin starred kitchens in London.
He began his career aged 18 at the two Michelin starred Petrus, owned by Gordon Ramsay and run by his protégée Marcus Wareing. After six months the restaurant became Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley and Maxwell continued working for Marcus for another 4 years.
During this time, Maxwell worked on every section of the kitchen and gained well rounded experience of all aspects of the cuisine.
Maxwell was also part of the original team which set up Marcus’ second restaurant, The Gilbert Scott in the Renaissance Hotel, Kings Cross.
Another important influence on Maxwell’s career so far is the St John restaurant group. Maxwell was part of the small team which was awarded a Michelin star in September 2012.
Whilst still working at St John Hotel, Maxwell hosted his first Pop Up restaurant which was a great success. This soon became another, and another, and after two months, Maxwell decided to leave St John and set up Maxwell Mckenzie Events, a company solely focused on hosting Pop Up restaurants in the Surrey area.
After 1 year of trading, Maxwell decided to expand the business to encompass all areas of food and drink. Thus, Salted Events was born.
Salted events still stands by Maxwell’s original vision of quality, whether in the food, the drink or the service.
